2020 has been a challenging year for the association and its members. We started the year with a team of six competitors headed to Manila for competition despite the Taal volcano situation. When Covid-19 happened, many events across the world came to a standstill. Karate events were no exception. Even so, the pandemic did not stop KGS from training and competing. We participated in a total of six events (including an internal Kata e-tournament in May) and our members have won a total of 10 Gold, 10 Silver and 14 Bronze medals.
The events are as follow:
- 3rd Manuel Veguilias Memorial Karate Cup [Jan]
- 1st JKFan Cup Web1 Challenge [May]
- 1st KGS Kata e-Tournament [May]
- 2nd JKFan Cup Web1 Challenge [Jun]
- 40th KGS Kata Championship, Kata Edition [Sep]
- 3rd JKFan Cup Web1 Challenge [Nov]
KGS members have once again showed our adaptability and resilience in a Covid environment. Let us not forget why we have started Karate in the first place and the values that were instilled in us over the years. As the saying goes, "tough times don't last, tough people do".
